TCS AUDIO SR SYSTEMS BRING OUT THE MUSIC
AT WINTER NAMM
Anaheim, CA … This year’s Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, CA drew what many industry pundits are touting as the largest crowds in recent memory. In addition to the activity on the convention floor, there were concerts, parties, and other events throughout the area, and Shadow Hills, CA-based Big Productions found itself smack dab in the center of much of the activity—providing sound reinforcement (SR) and lighting services. One such event was Ovation Guitars’ 40th Anniversary celebration, which included a 45-minute concert by legendary guitarist and Ovation endorser Al DiMiola. As is the case with all Big Productions setups, the sound system of choice consisted of products from the TCS Audio catalog.
Held on Saturday, January 21st in the combined A and B ballrooms of the Anaheim Hilton, Big Productions’ sound reinforcement system for the Ovation / Al DiMiola concert consisted of three TCS Audio TL1200 line array elements plus a single TL1200s subwoofer element flown on each side of the stage area, with the TL1200s positioned at the top of each stack. On the ground, two additional TL1200s subwoofers per side were placed into service for additional low frequency support. Stage monitoring was handled by a combination of TCS Audio TCS2120M and TCS1150M floor wedges.
To provide even coverage for both general public address and vocal performances along the front and center-most seating areas, TCS Audio’s TM206 loudspeaker enclosures were utilized along the stage lip. These speakers were also credited with adding to the clarity and presence of DiMiola’s guitar. Power for the entire system was provided by TCS Audio TA1400, TA2240, and TA2400 power amplifiers.
Rich Bartle, owner of Big Productions commented on the system’s performance, “The TCS Audio system used for this event did a terrific job supporting Al DiMiola and his band. DiMiola played an acoustic-electric guitar through a variety of effects processors, and was accompanied by a keyboard player, drummer, percussionist, and bass player. DiMiola’s performance was inspiring, and the TCS Audio system brought out the full range of his guitar’s personality. Performers and guests alike offered numerous positive comments regarding the system’s performance.”
Elsewhere during the four days of Winter NAMM, Big Productions had another TCS Audio SR system onsite at the Pulse, the downstairs club at the Hilton. For this system, Bartle chose the TCS Audio TCS1500 3-way enclosures and the TCS1800 subwoofers to give the rock and roll performances plenty of punch. Here, Mick Fleetwood, accompanied by Jack Cassidy of Jefferson Starship, Billy Burnett of Fogerty, and Skunk Baxter of the Doobie Brothers performed. Also appearing at the Pulse was Twisted Sister and Matchbox Romance.
And, of course, you can’t have a NAMM show without focusing on sales. Here, again, the TCS Audio equipment brought home the bacon. According to Bartle, “We arranged to block out some time to demonstrate the large venue TCS Audio system for some prospective customers from South America. When the TCS Audio sales team brought their guests by, we played a variety of program material, showed how the system’s ATM Flyware™ makes rigging a breeze, and answered all their questions—and yes, we closed the sale.”

TCS AUDIO UNVEILS MASSIVE NEW POWER AMP
San Diego, CA … TCS Audio, a leading provider of high-end sound reinforcement products for professional touring and fixed install applications, is pleased to introduce the new TA4000 power amplifier, the latest addition to the company’s venerable TA Series power amplifier line. Like all TA Series amplifiers, the new TA4000 capitalizes on the strengths of proven Class AB topology, includes the company’s highly regarded CTM™ (Constant Thermal Monitoring) technology, as well as parallel linked, XLR connectors for easy cascading of multiple amplifiers. With the introduction of the TA4000, TCS Audio adds greater power capacity for large-scale applications.
The new TA4000 delivers 2000 watts per channel* (4000 watts bridged) of pristine, chest pounding power at 4 ohms—enough to satisfy the most discriminating SR professional. Designed for use at large venue concert tours, music performance halls, and festivals, the TA4000 has a signal to noise ratio of greater than 100 dB and a THD factor of less than 0.03% (20 – 20k @ 3 dB below clipping).
Like all TA Series power amplifiers, the new TA4000 utilizes Class AB topology and high efficiency linear power supplies. This proven design yields consistent, reliable performance by way of low distortion, fast slew rates, and high damping factors—all the critical elements professionals demand.
To ensure cool running operation, the TA4000 incorporates TCS Audio’s Constant Thermal Monitoring technology. CTM manages the amplifier’s variable speed fan, which is mounted directly to the amplifier’s heat sink directing air across the heat sink’s fins in perpendicular fashion. This airflow system is extremely efficient and further contributes to the amplifier’s robust performance. The TA4000 also incorporates a thermal warning LED indicator to warn of approaching protective measures.
SR professionals will also appreciate the TA4000’s input connector configuration. The inclusion of both male and female locking XLR connectors on each channel facilitates easy cascading of multiple amplifiers when driving a loudspeaker array.
Additional TA4000 features include both binding post and Speakon output connectors, switches for easy selection of parallel, bridged, or stereo operation, plus switches for power limiting on/off and ground lift. Channel indicators include LEDs for signal, 50% and 80% power, clip, and limiter. With detented level controls for easy setting repeatability and a rugged 12- and 16-guage powder coated steel chassis, the TA4000 power amplifier has all the essentials to deliver reliable, world-class performance.
According to Craig Hockenberry, TCS Audio’s Director of Engineering and Marketing, “The new TA4000 represents the culmination of our company’s engineering efforts and is designed to provide audio professionals with a great sounding, uncompromising power source that is second to none.”

TCS AUDIO SR SYSTEM IN RESIDENCE
ON CENTERSTAGING’S STAGE 9
Burbank, CA … Whether it’s preparation for the Grammy or Academy Awards, or an upcoming tour for musical artists such as Gloria Estefan, Kid Rock, or Creed, there’s only one place to rehearse, pull it all together, and be ready for the main event. That place is CenterStaging Musical Productions, Inc. Recognized throughout the music and entertainment industries as the place to get ready for prime time, CenterStaging plays host to seemingly every major artist and awards show there is. And for a sound reinforcement company, there is simply no better place to have your equipment. So what gear do the top pros use when they rehearse at CenterStaging? If they’re in Studio 9, it’s a system from TCS Audio.
The TCS Audio system consists of the company’s TCS1150MB and TCS2120MB floor monitors, TCS1800 subwoofers, and TCS1500 3-way side fills / mains. The room also has a 4-way drum fill consisting of the 3-way TCS1500 enclosure placed on top of a single TCS1800 subwoofer. All TCS Audio loudspeaker products employ transducers from Italy’s B&C Speakers—recognized worldwide for their superior sonic performance. The entire rig is biamped using BSS FDS-334T MiniDrive loudspeaker management processors.
Earlier in the year, when CenterStaging needed twelve monitor mixes for preparation and rehearsal of the 2005 Grammy Awards, they turned to TCS Audio for the solution. James Brown, Usher, and Jamie Fox’s tribute to Ray Charles were all rehearsed using TCS Audio’s TCS1150MB and TCS2120MB floor monitors, fed from a Yamaha PM4000 mixing console.
According to Lou Carnevale, CenterStaging’s General Manager, “Our TCS Audio system resides, for the most part, on Stage 9, though it moves to other stages on occasion. Our experience with the equipment has consistently been good, and we’ve found that it does particularly well with hard rock acts and others who typically crank up the volume. Recently, our system has been used by a considerable number of acts, including Jada Pinkett-Smith and Wicked Wisdom, Marilyn Manson, The Veronicas, Ryan Cabrera, and DJ AM with Travis Barker to name but a few—and the equipment has received positive feedback in all cases.”
“We are absolutely thrilled to be part of CenterStaging’s equipment arsenal,” states Craig Hockenberry, TCS Audio’s Director of Engineering and Marketing. “CenterStaging has an incredible facility and is a perfect venue to expose our systems to some of the best acts and live sound engineers working today.”

TCS Audio Subs Thunder Through Coachella
Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Southern California’s Coachella Valley Music Festival this year to enjoy two full days of music supplied by over 50 artists. Los Angeles’ U.S. Audio & Lighting, which supplied production for multiple stages at the event, chose TCS2800 subwoofers for the Outdoor Theater Stage.
“We used 24, 12 per side, stacked 4 high and 3 wide. We powered each side with 6 Crown MA5002VZ amps. We were very pleased that the throw of the TCS2800 kept up with the 12 box V-Dosc / dV-Dosc Array. We focused our array drawing at 300’. We had the strong clear sub response we needed to cover the distance. The TCS2800 subs projected as we had hoped they would. We had plenty of thump! Our system tech and the crowd were all pleased.,” stated Pete Doctor, owner of U.S. Audio & Lighting.
The TCS Audio TCS2800 is a dual 18” co-planar loaded dedicated subwoofer system capable of producing a max SPL of 141dB / 1meter. The TCS2800 is applicable for use on concert tours, festivals, indoor and outdoor live performance venues and large worship centers.

The coverage was smooth and even.” On stage were four TCS2120Mb monitors, and four TCS 1150Mb monitors.
Bartle adds, ”The new line of TA Amplifiers were amazingly clean and efficient, they never even hit the 50% light. We used TA1400s and TA2240s for the TL1200 line arrays, and TA2400s for the TCS2800 subs during the three day festival.”
